Blanwi — a social network for rediscovering photo memories
Technical co-founder of a social network where people discover photos of their own life that other people have kept. Flutter app, Symfony backend, and Next.js website, in closed beta after more than a year of active development.
Context
The starting idea: your photos are scattered across your phone, WhatsApp, and other people's albums — nobody has the complete memory. Together with my co-founder, we set out to build a social network that gathers those photos around each shared memory.
Role
Technical co-founder — designed the full architecture (app, API, and web) and built most of the backend and a large part of the app.
Problem
Photos from the same moment — a wedding, a trip, a football team — end up scattered across everyone's phones, with nowhere to bring them together and no shared context.
Solution
Symfony 7.2 backend with JWT authentication, memory geolocation, push (Firebase) and real-time (Mercure) notifications, documented with OpenAPI. Flutter mobile app (Riverpod, GetIt) with per-album privacy (public/private/protected), a guest system, and in-app purchases. Landing page and access flow built with Next.js.
Result
A working end-to-end product, in closed beta and live on Google Play: 700+ commits on the app alone and over a year of active development, including a recently added Plus subscription tier and API security hardening.
